Why Worker Compensation Nurse Case Managers and Insurance Adjusters
Continue to Refer their Clients to the Comprehensive Pain Management Group

Fast Facts You Need to Know:

  • Our practice provides top-notch experienced pain management providers with a "small town personal
    approach".

  • Dr. Konowitz is Triple Board Certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Management, and Internal Medicine;
Dr. Molnar is Board Certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Management, and Osteopathic Medicine; Dr. Sims is
Board Certified in Anesthesiology and, Dr. Grehan is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and
    Pain Management.

  • Our Nurse Practitioner is ANCC Board Certified with a Subspecialty in Pain Management.

  • Nurse Case Managers and Adjusters have direct access to the Nurse Practitioner via private cell phone for
case management, assisting in solving dilemmas that are germane to complex work comp cases.

  • RN's manage the day-to-day clinical problems, prescription refills, and patient education.

  • Case managers are encouraged to accompany their clients to the visit for immediate on-site
communication of findings; when on-site visits are not feasible telephonic communication with the case managers/adjusters is conducted same day as visit.

  • We believe in appropriate and cost-effective pain management: for example, interventions such as epidural
or stellate ganglion blocks are individualized, have definite end-points and are self-limiting.

  • All Independent Medical Exams, 2"* opinions, 1'' consultations are comprehensive with highly detailed
history and physical exams lasting from one and one half to two hours or more depending on the complexity
of the case and if the case manager is present for consultation.

  • Complex and questionable diagnoses such as Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome are quickly deciphered.

  • We believe in the importance of non-interventional modalities such as self-directed home exercise programs,
proper body mechanics, patient education for the prevention of re-injury.

  • Adjuvant medications treating chronic neuropathic pain are the mainstay of medical management as
opposed to the use of opiates.

  • Opiates for chronic nonmalignant pain are used judiciously and closely monitored. Patients who arrive
on high dose or inappropriate opiates are usually weaned at first visit.

  • Dictations are ready within 24 hours when all pertinent medical records are available at time of initial consult.

  • Return to work and other clear set goals are established with the patient and family at fist visit.

  • Worker Compensation patients are given scheduling priority and are usually accommodated within five
    days of the request.

  • Various geographical locations are available to suit client needs.

  • Our office staff assists with approvals and obtaining reports.

Making the Workers Compensation Scheduling and Appointments go smoothly

After calling our office and speaking to Tamara, our Workers Compensation Specialist…..,

Our office mails out a New Patient Packet to your client. However, we would like the Case Manager to inform
the patient about their appointment.

You may also download the New Patient Packet in PDF format by clicking on the links at the bottom
of this page... Please call our office for the passwords to open these documents.

All patients are expected to show-up for their appointment with their completed new patient questionnaire and any recent x-ray or MRI films.  This is stressed to the patient several times, written and verbal.  Regretfully, if a patient shows up for his or her appointment without the paperwork completed, it will result in re-scheduling.  Our office
will call the patient approximately two days before their appointment for that friendly reminder.

No matter which office you schedule your patient to be seen, kindly mail or fax all medical records to our main
office at least 1 week before the appointment.
If necessary, please feel free to make any special arrangements
with Tamara.

After the Workers Compensation Patient has been seen & evaluated by the clinician, an immediate on-site communication of findings will be accomplished with those Case Managers who accompany their patients.

Dictated reports are done for all our patients.  Tamara will mail or fax reports directly to any Case Managers,
Adjusters or Legal consultants you may request.  Report turn around time is normally 1 to 2 days.

Please feel free to contact our office with any special requests that might make your job or ours easier. We look forward toa good working relationship between our offices.

Thank you for choosing the Comprehensive Pain Management Group!
